Exploitation surely do occur in everyday society. It was just yesterday that my AP physics tutor came in to realization that he has been an victim of modern society exploitation. I attend an academy for my "extra help sessions", and the academy has resources of tutors for all different subjects at different rates. All the payments are through the academy; the tutor doesn't know how much I pay the academy nor do I know how much the tutor makes per hour. Yesterday my tutor asked me how much I pay the academy for sessions and it was just a week before that I accidentally saw the cheque made to the academy. I did some simple math and found out that it's around $60 an hour for my physics
tutor. But when my tutor told me how much he receives from the academy for an hour of tutoring, I was shocked. He told me he has to drive from Richmond to Vancouver West just to tutor two hours a day and he gets paid $30 an hour. This is some brutal exploitation! The academy makes $30 an hour just from providing a table, two chairs, and a small room. However, as cruel as the society is today, the tutor needs a job in order to pay for his basic livings; doesn't matter if it's $30 an hour 0r $60 an hour, he needs income. Me on the other hand, don't want to spend the extra time and effort looking for a good physics tutor thus need to pay $30 extra an hour for my physics tutor, actually to the academy.
