As soon as I started reading the novel “Animal Farm” by George Orwell I knew Snowball was gonna be my favorite character. Snowball had everything, he was brave, encouraging, and admirable. Then one day everything changed when something went horribly wrong, Snowball was blamed for it. The time the windmill was destroyed for the very first time it clearly states in the passage the blaming “Do you know who is responsible for this? Do you know the enemy who has come in the night and overthrown our windmill? SNOWBALL” (Orwell 51). Snowball had spectacular ideas and was just a startling leader overall, everything was amazing, but suddenly it all went down hill. Napoleon was envious of Snowball, he had so much rage towards him, he ordered the enormous…

From these facts about Napoleon, it shows how animal farm will be under circumstances of his actions and his temperament that the farm will face. He fights the humans in battle against the humans and commands them successfully. This quality makes him most suitable because he is fighting for the animals to overpower the humans. His inventiveness allows for the society of animals to prosper over the humans; the inventions allow them to build their society up. He reads and learns to make Animal Farm better, while trying to educate the other animals too. Overall, Snowball is more involved with the animals and doesn’t want to have more power than them. Napoleon on the other hand, is more of a dictator and is more concerned for himself. For example, when he overlooks the commandments for himself. He takes Snowball’s ideas and claims they are his. Also, Napoleon acts much more immature than Snowball. For instance, “then suddenly he lifted his leg, urinated over the plans, and walked out without uttering a word.” He doesn’t handle disputes maturely and his actions show this. Also, he blames Snowball for the destruction of the windmill, even though it was the storm. Snowball is the obvious candidate to govern Animal Farm and is best for protecting all the animals that reside there. Napoleon seems to be covering the farm from animalism to communism. All of the animals of Animal Farm should rally together and say, “Snowball for everyone, Napoleon for…

Orwell contrasts Napoleon and Snowball in a way that forces them to have contradictory ideas. Snowball wants pure communism where everyone benefits equally, whereas on the other hand Napoleon prefers power. Snowball invents all of the ideas and arranging the animals into committees to help the farm in the best way possible. An example of this was the idea of building a windmill which would make 'jobs around the farm a lot easier, as well as warming the animal's stalls in the winter', with the introduction of electricity. Throughout the committee…

This statement is proven when the book states, “Snowball, who had studied an old book of Julius Caesar's campaigns…”(13-14). This describes that Snowball is advancing his education in order to get a higher ranking on the farm. In addition, this also shows that Snowball knows that if he wants to terminate mankind he would have to obtain knowledge that would give Animal Farm an advantage in combat. likewise, Snowball wants to use more advanced technology to ensure an improved future for the animals. Snowball wants to create a windmill to meliorate the farm, “Within a few weeks Snowball’s plans for the windmill were fully worked out...with a piece of chalk gripped between the knuckles, of his trotters, he would move rapidly to and fro, drawing in line after line and uttering little whimpers of excitement,”(16). This exemplifies that Snowball’s main focus was was on ameliorating the animals living conditions, health, and overall lives. Otherwise, this shows that Snowball was excited to give the animals amenities that they would have never gotten if Jones was still in charge. All in all, if Snowball wasn’t driven to advance his knowledge the farm wouldn’t have been able to make it as far as it…

At the beginning of chapter 5, in animal farm, Snowball is presented as popular with the animals, and skilled at raising support for himself among them. Orwell writes that ‘Snowball often won over the majority by his brilliant speeches’. This shows that he is both good with words and persuasive, as well as liked. Later, when he is banished, the animals are shown as wary, and one even protests against it saying that ‘he fought bravely at the battle of the cowshed’. By demonstrating that the animals were willing to stand up against his exile, even though they are now terrified of Napoleon, Orwell has made it obvious that they did like and support him, and that they are upset and worried that he is gone. This demonstrates a similarity to Trotsky, from the Russian revolution, as he was popular and well known among the Russian population, who saw him as an inspirational leader. But Trotsky was also then banished, just as Snowball is.…

Snowball believes in the happiness of his citizens. He would always put the farm first and try to achieve everyone's needs, this is seen when he devised a plan for a windmill tower that would produce electricity and benefit everyone on the farm. He believes that he is Animal Farm's destined leader and praises himself for all the things that he has done for the animals this is seen when Napoleon spreads lies and rumours, making Snowball into a symbol of the enemy within and steals snowballs idea of the windmill.…

Power does corrupt because in chapter 3 there is a lot examples from the pigs that clearly show how power corrupts in many sorts of ways. One of the examples that shows how power corrupts in chapter 3 is when the pigs make the other animals do the work and they hardly did any work themselves to help out the current state that the farm was in. Therefore i believe that that should be one of my examples for why power corrupts. I also believe that this should be an example because it reminds me of how some police officers use their power for bad and it makes them corrupted.…

Animal Cruelty in American Agriculture Avoidable cruelty and unnecessary abuse of factory farmed animals is a crisis epidemic in the United States which warrants immediate action. In every country, “large numbers of factory farmed livestock are raised indoors in conditions intended to maximize production at minimal cost” (Merriam-Webster). Cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, horses, other animals, and fish are treated as dollar signs rather than living beings, around the globe. While there are several organizations that lobby and promote laws for more humane treatment of farm animals, very little is being accomplished or enforced. Consumer awareness, education, and purposeful advocacy are necessary to combat animal cruelty in American agriculture,…

The novel “Animal Farm”, written by George Orwell, was written as a reference to the Russian Revolution during the Second World War. The main characters of the novel were two, Napoleon and Snowball. The animals in the farm were facing bad treatments from the owner of the farm, Mr Jones; therefore, the animals, led by Napoleon and Snowball, decided to raise a rebellion against Mr Jones and his workers. The rebellion succeeded, and the farm became owned by the animals. Throughout the novel, Napoleon and Snowball could never agree in anything. All of the sudden, one day Napoleon made a dirty move by convincing the animals in the farm that Snowball was a spy, and he was working with Mr Jones the whole time. This forced Snowball to escape from the farm leaving Napoleon the only leader in the farm. One of the most important themes…

Snowball’s control of Animal Farm is seen as decent, whereas Napoleon’s is corrupt. Snowball actually contributed as a political head with ideas to improve Animal Farm. He “buried himself with organising the other animals into what he called Animal Committees. He was indefatigable at this.” –pg 19. Snowball devoted time and effort for the success of the other animals. Napoleon said, “Comrade Snowball will lead the way. I shall follow in a few minutes.” –pg 16. This shows that Snowball did direct the animals as a respectable leader. Also, this demonstrates how already Napoleon secluded himself from the others, by acting narcissistic. Napoleon’s dishonesty continues to grow when he makes paradoxical laws, where the “work was strictly voluntary, but any animal who absented himself from it would have his rations reduced by half.” –pg 35. In Animal Farm Snowball is depicted to be a reasonably moral leader in opposition to Napoleon’s bent leadership.…

This happened a couple years of ago, although similar actions appear to be happening to this day with Donald Trump. Donald also stole from his citizens, by using money from his foundation, Trump bought himself a painting that has a 20 000$ value. Since he bought this with charity money, it proves that he is a selfish and negative leader. With qualities such as these, a revolution in the United States is bound to happen. People may say that there are good leaders, which is true. Although, there will always be a group of corrupted leaders. For example, there is approximately, 200 countries in the world. This statistic is to prove that there should be a leader for each country. However, there only needs to be one bad leader to cause a revolution. Furthermore, Snowball represents the good kind of leader, as opposed to Napoleon who is more of a selfish leader. Each decision they have to make, it seems like a disagreement happens between the two of them, which leads to an argument. Sadly for the farm, Snowball got left aside which lead to Napoleon as the main leader. “Besides, in those days they had been slaves and now they were free and that made all the difference”(Orwell 94). Humans were once in slavery, good people such as Abraham Lincoln, thought it was wrong. He made a revolution and protested, he desired a change. As soon as he got his presidency, he issued Emancipation Proclamation which stopped it. The animals thought the same. Maybe a change would be…
