Imagery is language that appeals to the senses. It may be thought of as an illustration in words, which clarifies the meaning of a poem. What makes someone a hero? Beowulf is an Old English heroic epic poem of anonymous authorship. Throughout Beowulf's three battles with Grendel, Grendel’s mother and the dragon he showed what a true hero was. The battle of Beowulf vs. Grendel started when Grendel went to Mead hall and killed 30 men. The king of the Danes notified Beowulf, and he felt the urge to help him, he traveled to the land of the Danes by boat for three days.
