SUBPOINT: Human trafficking is very common all throughout the world.
1. Over 21 million people are victims of human trafficking. a. It can happen to people of either gender with ages ranging from 1-25. b. For prostitution, age can range from 14-25.
2. 1.5 million victims are in North America. a. California is one of the largest places for human trafficking. b. This may be due to its popular sites and racial diversity. Transition: Knowing what human trafficking is not the only thing you need to know in order to fight it, you also need to understand why people are coerced into it.
II. MAIN POINT (state as a single declarative sentence): This question can be answered with one word: money. For the victims, it is usually their lack of it, which makes them an easy target.

It is a growing issue here in the United States and Bay Area that people are doing what they can to stop.
