In many ways people put others before themselves in The Diary of Anne Frank. To begin, Miep and Mr. Kraler obviously put others before their own well being. As stated when Mrs. Frank said “ Thank you, Miepia. You shouldn’t
have done it. You must have used all of your sugar rations for week” (Goodrich/Hackett, 886). Miep gets small amounts of rations, and to give his food up for others is amazing.
Additionally,in many ways people put others before themselves in Escape from Sobibor. Leon helps two women off the train and said to them “ Tell them you have a talent” (Gold, Escape from Sobibor). Leon could have not told anyone or the other inmates could have not told anyone. There would be less people to try to get everyone out of the camp, but Leon didn't care he wanted to help as many people as he could.Leon could have been killed if any officers were to found out that Leon helped people from getting killed, but he still took the risk.
In conclusion, although putting others before themselves is not always easy. Leon from Escape from Sobibor and the Franks in The Diary of Anne Frank, they helped others, and helped them with out the officers even knowing. They have tolerance to do something good in a time of bad.Mr. Kraler and Miep from The Diary of Anne Frank, helped the Franks even though they could get killed. Leon from Escape from Sobibor, helped two women even when his own life was at danger. The power of intolerance inspires people to put others before themselves.
