Race relations have evolved over the course of the 20 and 21 century. It seen through the book, To Kill a Mockingbird. It is also shown through famous trials such as the Scottsboro trials, the Emmett Till murder trial, the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, and the Nuremberg trials. Although it is found a lot between African Americans, race relations have evolved between other races as well. In the novel, To kill a Mockingbird, we see a young naive girl who follows society’s beliefs. She see’s the evil in the world through racial issues. There is also a fictional trial for Tom Robinson. When Till was fourteen, he was put on a train In Chicago’s central station to stay with relatives for two weeks. On the night of the 24, some of Till’s relatives, and friends of relatives, traveled with Till to a grocery store. When one of the boys had finished making his purchase, it left Emmett Till in the store alone with a white woman who was running the register for the night. What was said and done between the two of them for those few minutes was unknown for certain but would soon ruin Till’s life. Emmett Till claims that he only asked the lady for some candy. When she handed him the candy, he had grabbed her hand and asked for a date. When she was walking away he grabbed her waist and told her not to be afraid because he has slept with a white women before. Till’s cousin claims that when entering the store after a minute of him being alone, he witnessed zero inappropriate behavior. When the clerk left the store, it was stated that Emmett Till whistled at her. After the women working at the store’s husband returned from Texas, he had heard of the story of Emmett Till. He said that if he had done nothing to the little kid that was messing with his wife, he was a coward. The man had planned to kidnap Emmett Till on August 27.
