There are still cases of police targeting blacks and Hispanics even today. A prime example of this is stop-and-frisk laws that allow police to stop someone who seems suspicious in any way, and to frisk them for weapons or other illegal contraband. With no real reason, in some states such as New York, it is perfectly legal for the police to stop someone and to search them simply because there is nothing stopping them (https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/stop_and_frisk). While there are arguments that the police cannot stop someone without reasonable suspicions, as it is made clear in the fourth amendment, most people who are put under suspicions are dark skinned. Another example of this prejudice is that ever since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, there has been increased security at US airports. The reason for increased security, such as organizations like the TSA, is to help prevent terrorist attacks before they happen. Though what is never directly brought up is how these organizations are working to specifically prevent Muslim terrorist attacks. Because of this, specific targeting of certain groups throughout the nation, it is clear that while we are becoming better as a society, we are nowhere near utopia nor will we be anytime
