The central theme of To Kill a Mockingbird is “everyone deserves to be treated with respect”. While reading chapters one through eleven, I feel Harper Lee carried this theme through the book, being expressed through Atticus. All of my quotes come from Atticus. When Scout yelled at Walter for pouring syrup all over his food, Atticus taught her a lesson and said “ You never really understand a person until you consider things from their point of view, and until you climb into their skin and walk around it” (ph 10 pg 39).
