For years the voice of thousands of African-Americans has been muted, young black girls being told that their hair and skin is inferior to whites and our young black men having to face their own harsh reality. So the concept
of reverse racism is mind-boggling because me being a dark skin African-American women, society has clearly demonstrated that I will never get as many job opportunities, be as protected or financially secure as whites. Although, it is possible for white people to experience discrimination, racism is not possible because in society they are seen as the superior race.
Allow me to digress, back to a detrimental time in my childhood. The first time i experienced racism was when i was 2 years old, i attended a daycare center and their was this little girl that wouldn’t let me play with the toys simply because i was black.Despite my young age I could still feel a sense alienation, my mother handled it . My second time experiencing racism i remember vividly, i was playing by the swings and i walked pass these two kids sitting at a bench, i overheard one of the girls say “i hate black people” and as she said that i looked right at her and she had this look of embarrassment as soon as she saw me but i was too confused to argue and went right back up the stairs.
My point is that white people will simply never experience that sense of hurt and alienation, a person expressing backwards ideas about a white person is not okay but that doesn’t affect how the whole entire population will perceive you as a whole.
