When the narrator kills his cat the cat comes back seeking revenge by trying to send him to the gallows to kill him. The cat is very evil because of this, Poe the author makes all of the superstitions come true. Towards the end of the story it reads “The clever animal! My wife is dead because of him, and now his evil voice was sending me to the gallows.” this shows the evil cat had connived up an evil plan to kill him. The cat wasn't just evil, but he mad the narrator does evil things that he would usually not do like, hurt his wife, kill his first cat Pluto, and become a murderer. …show more content…
To get rid of the Pain the he would further drink more which would put him in a brutal cycle, making it more and more agonizing pain as he went on. Drink is what made him kill his cat, Drink is what made him kill his wife, and Drink is what sent him to the “Gallows”. So if drinking Drink made him go though all of the pain you'd think he'd stop but no he just keeps drinking Drink. He doesn’t stop drinking until it was too late and he was in jail waiting for his execution for the homicide of his wife. This problem gives a vivid picture of what drinking can symbolize, pain and
