Edgar Allan Poe , his stories characterized by mystery and macabre. That what encouraged me to choose one of his stories.
" Black Cat " , talks about one of the world's superstitions , cats especially black cat . There are many superstitions about being with or having a black cat , it's like a symbols of bad luck , death , sorcery and the spirits of the dead . I was confused about theses superstitions , so I decided to read this story . At the first part of the story , the narrator said " I neither expect nor solicit belief. Mad indeed would I be to expect it, in a case where my very senses reject their own evidence " this sentence make readers to suggest and imagine what was happened to him , and let them want to read more and more and never

    Throughout both Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories, The Tell Tale Heart and The Black Cat, he uses symbols. The symbols in both stories relate to each other and can also be compared and contrasted. The similar symbols such as the sound of the beating heart and the sound of the cat meowing are similar symbols, showing guilt and paranoia. Both their guilt and paranoia end up getting the best of them, as in the end, their guilt and paranoia get them caught for their killings. On the contrary, the sound of the heart beat was all in the narrator’s imagination while the sound of the cat’s meowing is real. Another pair of symbols that are similar is the old man and the cat.
