She chose to stay with Tom verses leaving him for Gatsby. The reason Daisy stays with Tom is because they share a child together. In this era divorce was frowned upon especially when children were involved. Daisy would have experienced social scorn. “Why there’re things between Daisy and me that you’ll never know, things that neither of us can ever forget”(131). Social scorn would lay heavily on this couple because of their status in life. No matter the incident Tom always comes back and Daisy accepts him because they love each other through the good and bad. Love means to accept a person's flaws and love them unconditionally. Whether he is cheating on her or not they will love each other through thick and thin.

Money, social class, carelessness, and sour love contribute to the weakness of their relationship. The love of a child and the thought of harsh criticism for not staying married kept their relationship in sync. They are no more than children in their actions with each other and in society. They will always go back to each other as they are nothing without each other, the lifestyle they have grown used to, the only thing keeping them stable, is nothing without the
