In the story the tell-tale heart, The narrator tells the reader that he loves the old man and has no desire for his wealth, the old man had never insulted him or wronged him. The narrator was obsessed with his pale blue eye and how evil it was; he despised the eye so much that it urged him to kill the old man. The narrator is unreliable because he talks about why he wants to kill the old man and how much that eye is evil. He continues to speak about how is going to kill him and he is sounding a little insane. The narrator is insane and disturbed, He talks about how he loves the old man so deeply because the old man has never wronged him or even been mean, But it was his eye that the narrator
was discussed with because it was a pale blue color with a milky film over it. Every time the narrator’s eyes took a glimpse of it his blood ran cold and that’s when he had the thought of killing him. “I gasped for breath-and yet the officers heard it not. I talked more quickly-more vehemently”. The narrator is completely insane because of how fast he is talking to the officers. He is unreliable because he is talking so fast and gasping for breath, which makes it sound like he is lying. The narrator has angry problems because of all the fake noises he hears which make him extremely aggravated “I foamed-I raved-I swore! I swung at the chair upon me which I had been sitting, and grated it upon the boards”. The narrator lacks morals because he is a very nervous person the way he acts, “Toe!-nervous-very dreadfully nervous I had been and am but will you say that I am mad” he is an unreliable person the way he acts. The narrator also stares at things and talks to himself a lot when he is waiting or doing something, “It was open-wide open-and I grew furious as I gazed upon it”. He grows furious and cannot control his anger. The narrator also makes sick jokes about the thing he wants to do the old man; he has a strange sense of humor. “There was nothing to wash out-no stain of any kind-no blood spot. I had been too waste for what. A tub had caught all-Ha! Ha!” The story the tell tale heart, the narrator is unreliable because of the way he acts and what he says. He talks about killing the old man in a sick way and then kills him, but the narrator also loved the old man but hated his eye. He could not resist his eye; he was so obsessed with it that he just had to kill the old man. His pale blue “evil eye” is why the narrator decided to kill him.
