Needs Analysis
The success of any organization is dependent upon the development of the employees and ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and abilities to carry out the mission of the organization in a way that will achieve company goals and objectives. Target is one of the largest retail department stores, and a contributing factor to their success is developing employees. In addition, Target operates an online business Target.com (http://investors.target.com). Target operates in 1,925 stores, 1,795 in the United States and 130 in Canada. Target is known for providing outstanding customer service; this continues to be their focus as they expand the business in Canada with a goal of having 215 stores in Canada in 2015. Making the few suggested changes Target will continue to motivate and develop their team members.
Task Analysis When a business establishes a task analysis they are outlining the needs of each position then create a way to impart knowledge upon their workers while maintaining their motivation. Target’s leaders believe that all types of acknowledgement of job well done increases their team members’ performance. They do this by offering both formal and informal recognition programs (Target.com, 2014).
Performing a task analysis allow leaders and managers to simplify the many jobs they have into more manageable tasks. Simplifying jobs allows there to be a more efficient means to complete specific tasks which helps to reach their goals in a more expeditious manner.
