Look at three biggest points in each lecture for the final!
WHY DO WE MAKE THE CHOICES WE DO?
-If we all did these 15 things we would have a mortality rate that is half of what it is now
-What is choice?
Free Will
Fate?
Fun Hedonism (Hedonist choose pleasure)
Control- people will want to exercise more if they feel a sense of control in the type of exercise they do
Ex. HIV- if taken care of properly with medications aids patients can live a normal life span
-Mother believed she didn’t need medication to cure her disease because of this guy on the Internet.
-Medication could have helped the children not grow up with HIV
-Baby dies of an HIV related disease
-She refused to have her child tested
“Hedonism”- pleasure principle
-Also avoiding the unpleasantness
-Apart of human nature, must be moderated to become a balance, integrated individual -Biology doesn’t care about your denial

The Paradox of Choice: If giving too many choices people start to freak out
Can be overwhelming and lead to: stress, regret, anxiety, doubt, difficulty in making a decision
Some choices but a minimal #= optimal
We sometimes fret over choices that are trivial
Other times we don’t stress as much over the big things
“Sacrifice” more and “Maximize” less:
Rapid choice, Sacrifice ex. I want some shoes that I use for walking, I want it to be light, I’m a student and only have 60$ (big criteria), ex. Maximize bring me all the size 11 shoes
