Near the hills we placed our schools and apartments, giving a physical advantage in which there is less wind for the buildings. Our hydropower plant also is relevant in its features as the placement is nearby the splitting of the river into the two. This maximizes the amount of power we can get from the plant. Our sewage treatment plant is near one of the rivers to maximize it’s efficiency as it can take water from the river and use it to move our sewage and clean it. Near the ocean is our fishery, as that is where we will be doing the fishing. Our trading centre is on the island southwest of the town, so that the importing and exporting of materials is as simple as possible.

We wanted to make sure our dam was as efficient as possible. While it may have been more efficient closer to the ocean, we did not want to destroy any swampland and ruin that habitat for animals. That would create a large amount of problems in itself, not even counting the ethical ambiguity of the act. We also utilized a field full of solar panels which would help to supply our city with more clean energy. The sewage, water treatment, and recycling plants were all located as far away from residential space as possible, as few people want to live next to factories and …show more content…
This will allow for garbage to be placed below ground level, reducing the effect wind can have on carrying potent doors. Seeing as New Wessex is a green community, we expect the volume of waste sent to the recycling plant to heavily exceed the volume sent to the landfill. Another way we utilized green technologies in New Wessex is by way of a simple, efficient transportation system. A single bus route provides service to the periphery of the town (housing, schooling, grocery and other basic needs), while rail services are used to get around the Central Business District. By using these, versus creating multiple arterial routes, we again were able to maximize available space. For example, we had room to designate a large area of land on the east side of town to be used as recreational area, which includes a
