Explain The Alternate Ending Of The Lamb To The Slaughter
Lamb to the Slaughter “So there it is let’s break up. I can’t live with you anymore”, he said as he slammed the glass drink on the stool beside him. “I don't understand, how could you do this to me”, she quietly said. As soon as she said those words, he stood up from his chair and stormed into the bedroom. Mary turned around as though as if she wasn't hurt and head to the kitchen. She looked in the refrigerator for food and saw that there was nothing. Mary then decided to go to the grocery store to buy meat. She put on her clothes and went out to buy meat. There was no one, so she decided to go to the police station to ask for help. When she got there, no one was there. On the front of the door was a big sign. “BIG NEWS,” it said in big letters. When she looked down it said that there was a criminal catching woman at night time and that no one should go out. Unconvinced by the sign, she began to look at everyone she sees and ask them where Patrick is. But then she noticed that every house looked so dark and all the shops were closed until she passed by a shop that said open on it. Outside it looked mysterious and scary, as she looked up at the sign, it said that it was a pub. She sneakily went inside and saw that Patrick was in there with his police outfit on. She tiptoed toward him and she saw that he was looking at a man. The man he was looking at was wearing a brown coat, had a high nose, small lips, and black eyes. His hair was off to the side and he was wearing jeans. But something unusual about the guy was that he was looking at women and not drinking. Mary thought it was strange since why would anyone look at a man but just decided to go with what her original plan was… to find her husband. Finally, Mary was near him and scared him asking why he would be here. Patrick got really mad and said “ I ALREADY TOLD YOU HOW MANY TIMES THAT WE ARE NOT TOGETHER ANYMORE. WE ALREADY BROKE UP”. Mary feeling super sad started bawling but on the corner of her eye, she saw Patrick smirk a bit. She wondered why but didn't say anything and a few seconds later she ran away. She ran as fast as she can but got tired soon since she was 6 months pregnant, and then she meets someone named Bill. “Bill? Why is he in a police outfit, too. I thought he had his day off? ”, she thought. But before her question could be answered, he said to her “Please go home now it is very dangerous. A gentleman is catching women”. “Okay”, she responded. When she got home, she thought about the things

Come quick! Patrick's dead!” “He’s lying on the floor and i think he’s dead.” These two quotes support my theme is that she's now calling the police and there going to start asking questions about how it happened, who do u think did it, and what could have hit him that hard that he was to die. As the police arrived they began to ask her where she was when her husband Patrick had been killed. She told him she had ran to the grocery store to make dinner for patrick and she told them what grocer she had gotten the food from. The police left to ask the grocer if she seemed to be acting weird but of course he said no. She had rehearsed what she was going to say to him so many times she sounded just perfectly normal. “...Acted quite normal.. Very cheerful...wanted to give him a good supper..peas..cheesecake..impossible that she…” but actually she did. She had killed her husband over him leaving her for another women. She assumed that if they were to find out that she had kill him that they wouldn't kill her while she was pregnant with his baby. “In fact, it would be a relief. On the other hand, what about the child? What were the laws about murderers with unborn children? Did they kill them both-mother and child? Or did they wait until the tenth month? What did they do?” As she asked herself these questions as what was going to happen to her unborn child after she killed…

As soon as she pulled onto the highway, the lightning flashed across the sky and she knew it would start raining soon. Ruth was unfamiliar with the curvy roads, and slowed down when the rain started forming a lake on the road in front of her, making it difficult for her to see the lines on the highway.
