Culture - Cultural barriers may make a person fearful of government agencies and welfare groups. Homeless individuals may find accommodation or services offered to be culturally inappropriate, reading to gender and segregation.
First spoken language - Language barriers can affect their first spoken language, closely related to their culture and may increase or decrease their ability to access relevant resources and information.
Confidence is however needed to seek support but is reduced due to language barriers. Support and agonies services, off services to interpreters with written fact sheets in variety of languages.
Gender - Homelessness either short term or long term accomodation for both men and women, there is more support for women in the form of womens refuge. An increased need is to protect women from domestic violence due to the imbalance of gender, it creates a division in services. The increased incidence of homeless women relates to their interrupted working life, caring responsibilities, lower levels of income and discrimination accessing finance
Age - Age affects the homeless individuals. Due to the ages of individuals, it may restrict some people from accessing services such as Homeless Children may not have the knowledge to access certain services, Homeless Adolescents believe they are not young to seek housing assistance and Older Homeless individuals may be too ill to seek help due to an age - related health condition, preventing them from accessing services
Type of disability - Type of disability refers to Mental health issues as they are a significant source of disability for the homeless. It can compound difficulties of an individuals homelessness creating barriers in communication such as accessing services. Another type of disability is Physical, which affects a persons ability to travel to certain locations in order to obtain the services needed, the person may have a broken leg resulting of using crutches to walk.
Socioeconomic Status - Refers to the Health and Wellbeing of individuals. Homeless suffer from Low Social Status which leads them to shy away from social contacts or interaction. The prospects of a homeless individual of finding a permanent accomodation or accessing medical service are reduced due to the difficulties of identification, seeking government support and seeking employment.
