Respect is all about to listening to other people. It is important to accept and value the different ways in which individuals communicate, taking into consideration the speed at which different individuals take to process information and respond in an appropriate manner.
Self-determination opens up a wide range of opportunities, giving SEN children the same opportunities as typical children and allowing them to make their own choices thus developing independence in both life and work skills. It enables a pupil to control their relationships with carers and support worker and helps develop opportunities for further future meaningful
decision-m aking aspects of everyday life.
Inclusion is developed though participation in a variety of sporting and social environments and helps to develop acceptance within the community. It will have the liong term effect of providing the learner with the confidence to plan their own future.
Fostering relationships is vital to developing the happiness of the child. All relationships need nurture and care to develop and this enable the learner to feel happy and secure. These include friendships, persona and social carers, parental carers, educational carers and many other relationships which the learner may encounter. Developing relationships helps reduce the risk of social isolation which could have a detrimental effect on the child’s ability to live in the wider world.
