The Hawthorne effect can occur at places such as rehab centers where patients are required special attention and needs. Certain patients may want to feel loved and cared for. When a patient is feeling down and depressed, they may not want to take their medication. They need something or someone to motivate them to continue taking their mediation and feel happy. By a doctor or nurse showing the patient that they actually care about them can change the patient’s attitude towards things. “People may change their behavior when given special attention in research” (Fadl, Elmula,. 2015). Anyone can provide someone with care and that can change an individual’s mind and emotions. They would start to feel important, happy, more alive, and most of…

Progress toward specified goals is fundamental to planned accomplishment. Measuring that progress is essential since it provides intermediate feedback for continued or corrective actions and can help ascertain actual accomplishment. Beyond the simple assessment of accomplishment is the evaluation of what that accomplishment truly means. Through proper evaluation, an accomplishment 's true worth can be determined. Then, decisions about future actions can be made. Care must be taken, however, to avoid pitfalls that could lead to incorrect conclusions and improper decisions.…

Response: I am a High School teacher, so relate many of the Hawthorne Effect statements to those that I see all the time, high school students. This effect is specifically true for students who worry about how they are being rated and graded by their teachers. I also warn the students that I read lips, because my mother was deaf for much of my life, and that I am very good at following many conversations in the classroom at one time, again, because my mother was deaf and I had to be able to let her know what was going on around her. Even with this knowledge, the students tend to act differently when being "watched" then when they are not aware or not being watched. Cell phone use increases, talking increases, and general lack of being or looking busy is more prevalent. When the students become aware that they are being watched, they either shyly smile and acknowledge the infraction or hide or put things away, pretending it wasn't happening, neither of which is very effective.…
