Explain The Hotel Model Of Active Support
Active support means individuals are actively involved in their own support. Meaning they will do tasks for themselves, whether they be clean themselves, their living environment, cooking meals for themselves or other day to day living tasks. The hotel model is where individuals take more of a back seat to their own care and a lot more of their daily living tasks are done by support workers. Individual’s independence should be encouraged and helped as much as possible. Even in the hotel model however the individuals should get as much choice as possible, regarding decisions in their lives, what they eat, etc. Things must always be person centred and tailored for each specific person’s wants and needs as this will help them to be happy and enjoy

The hotel model is where the patient or SU does not actively participate in activities, but is an onlooker, as the support staff show the activity, but do not promote participation. It is a passive rather than active way of dealing with patients/SUs. The active support method involves the patient or SU as each individual is considered to have gifts and talents, or abilities, and will be actively supported to use them. This is a person-centred approach, and it is necessary for support staff to recognise that every person is an individual with their own differences.…
