With regard to children and young people you need to ensure you are at the same level as the child or young person you do not want to show that you have ultimate power, you need to have equal power. This can be achieved by sitting next to them. You will become a role model for them. By communicating effectively you promote self-worth,
self esteem and build a child's or young person's confidence.
