Explain Why A 16 Year Old Age Should Not Be Raised To 18

Imagine being able to drive anywhere, without a parent, by the time you are 15. Unfortunately, here in Iowa, you are required to be 16 years old to get your own license, 15 to get a school permit, and 14 to get a regular permit. Why do we wait so long to finally let young adults drive wherever they want without adult supervision? Students struggle everyday with having to ride the bus, or even walking home from school. When they need to go somewhere, they need to have a parent to either drop them off or go with them to that place. Kids look forward to the day where they are 16 and free. Yet, why do we wait such a long time? Around 15 years old, students are to the point where they can drive to and from school, so why don’t we let them drive anywhere? Now, 14 is the age for a permit, and once you get that, you are free to get your school permit and license, so you shouldn’t have to wait another two years, at 16 years old, to be legal to
These are the three main situations we have on hand in the mornings and evenings. To solve some issues, we should lower the age of when teenagers are able to get their permits and licenses. The age to get a permit and school permit should be 14, and the age to get a license should be 15.
If adolescents are mature enough, now, to get their school permit at 15, they are mature enough to get their license. Most kids turn 15 their freshman year of high school, which means a lot of responsibility is put on them. This will allow students to be careful with their driving, because they will get the privilege of driving at 15.
