1. Why do you think religious attitudes are such a strong predictor of political affiliation? Provide an example to explain your answer. I believe that Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is an example of how religion can strong predictor of political affiliation. It is because of many things Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said and did that helped in the equal right of African American people. Many laws were passed because of his teachings so basically if it wasn’t for the many things he did some of the laws for equal rights wouldn’t have been passed. There has been a rise in life expectancy because there is better medical care now, living longer, being the main cause would be the declining fertility, and not as many babies being born because many people are waiting longer to have children and not getting married. Outline the biggest challenges you think our society faces in managing the ‘greying’ population over the next 50 years. I think the number one challenge would be the economic conditions because it would mean less people working and more people retiring. This would mean incomes would drop, also health care cost would increase. The second would be arranging where the elderly would live if it would be in their child’s home or in a nursing home. Living in their child’s home could cause more strain on that child because they could still be taking care of their own children but it can save on cost because nursing homes can be pricey.
