Having more hands around the setting will benefit the children significantly so it is vital to plan how many staff/adults are present for particular days/activities, this way practitioners will have a better chance of meeting all of the children’s needs. For instance, in my placement I’m working alongside a year one class where there is a teacher and a classroom assistant. For this age range of children the additional support is particularly significant as the children’s care and learning needs are higher than a child in year 6 e.g. toileting; a year 1 child would need more support than a child in the higher year group. Subsequently if a teacher is showing care for a child who has had a ‘toileting accident’ it is vital to have a classroom assistant so that the other children are overseen and not left along, furthermore it will mean their needs are also
