Why Do People Communicate?
People communicate in many different ways and also for many different reasons. There are a wide variety of ways in which people communicate however there are specific reasons as to why each individual does. For example: to give information to another individual to receive information from another individual to give instructions to another individual to retrieve information from another individual to discuss certain situations among individual(s) to make individuals aware of their points or concerns they may have to express their requirements amongst individuals to negotiate certain individuals to develop their learning needs

How is Communication Affective Within Work?
Effective communication is vital within work as it is the key aspect of everything that you do. There are many different reasons as to why it is vital to ensure your role of work is run efficiently and well in which it enables you to develop your work within the child and young peoples era. You need to ensure your sending the right message to the other person to enable a correct response and for it also to be understood properly. It involves verbal communication, talking non-verbal and non-talking. These are the examples in which it is vital your communicating properly: ensure your being very clear to the other individual(s) about what your saying ensure that the other individual(s) understand what you are trying to say to them always ensure that you consider the other individual(s) point of view (adult or child) ensure you have a rapport with the individual in which your communicating to (child or adult)
If you give clear communication then the other individual(s) will more than likely understand your views or even the message that you are trying to express to them. It may not always be easy to communicate effectively however, you can seek help if you feel you may need advice in which it will help you to communicate whether it is with a child or with an adult.
An example in the workplace could be for when a member of staff in which they have been trained via a full first aid course is explaining to another colleague how to act appropriately for minor first aid, and to also record everything in the accident book (red mark on forehead needs a cold compress and a cuddle to the young individual). The other colleague will then show their understanding by following the correct procedure that the other member of staff has explained to them by acting when the situation arises.

Why is it Important to Observe Individuals Reactions?
There are many reasons why individuals react differently whilst your communicating with them. This could be due to their personality, culture, religion, age, and language that they speak or lack of speech. There are a few examples that you can consider when observing an individual(s) reaction: you may have to adapt yourself in which you communicate to a child or adult due to their reactions try and observe as many different reactions to ensure you know how to respond to a child or an adult children and adults express their communication in different ways as they may not be able to express them in words eg. Looking elsewhere while your talking due to them not being able to listen properly individual(s) expressions have many different meanings due to their culture
An example in the work place could be for a young individual who has special needs like speech impairment or autism. You need to be aware on how to approach these young individuals and speak appropriately according to their disability. For example speaking slowly and clearly and down to the young individuals eye level so they are aware that you are speaking to them and also so they understand more in which you need to explain things in a shorter text so the young individual does not get confused, and also by using hand gestures by pointing to what your are trying to explain to them or what you're trying to teach them.
Facial expressions are a good way of finding out how somebody is feeling and it can also be a way of which somebody talks.
Eye contact refers to individuals behavior which differs from person to person. Certain people keep their eyes on you whilst your talking because they are absorbing as much information as they can where others can't or they may disagree with what your expressing to them.
Body language comes in many forms but it is a key way of finding out an individual(s) feelings. They may have their arms crossed due to being angry or they feel tense, they may shrug their shoulders or raise their arms due to indifference, or they may even have slouched shoulders in which this may mean that they don't feel confident.
Gestures are often used such as hand or head movements to reveal or hold back their feelings. In can also be used to make a point or to add emphasis within the communication. Nodding is a way of telling the apposing individual(s) to carry on talking or agreeing with them however, scratching of the head or face is a way of telling them that they may disapprove or that they are being
impatient.
Touch is a vital part when it comes to non-verbal communication but you need to always ensure that you use touch appropriately and observe how the apposing individual reacts to your gesture. An individual could feel uncomfortable if you touch them on the arm to get their attention even though you know that there is nothing meant behind the gesture. Also certain cultures don't allow touch as a way of communicating so always ensure you are aware of certain individual(s) backgrounds.
Tone of voice is a good way of telling how somebody is feeling as it could be a normal, high, or low tone pitch. Voice tone is vital when understanding a child or adults communication as it can vary from time to time. Quiet voice tone may indicate nervousness in one adult whereas in others in could generally be just the way they speak. Ensuring that you observe each individual(s) tone will allow you to communicate effectively and efficiently.
