Guns are a simple idea, and work all the better because of it. To put it simply, gasses push a projectile out of a barrel. The gun hasn’t changed much since it was created in china centuries ago. Guns use grooves on the inside of their gun. This is called rifling. This is done to force the bullet to spin, when any object spins it creates a gyroscope (Woodford). Gyroscopes like to stay they way they are to keep stable, guns take advantage of this and force the bullets to spin while exiting the barrel to keep them as stable as possible.
