The mistrust between these two countries has been there even before the WWII because they had different beliefs and different goals. The U.S.S.R was a Communist country controlled by a dictator that was not respecting a freedom of human rights comparing to the USA that was a capitalist democracy with valued freedom and human rights. After the WWII the United States and Britain wanted to protect democracy in Germany and other countries of Europe. However, Stalin was trying to get his control over the large areas of Eastern Europe such as Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary by administering the government composed of Communists. Only in 1948 the Communists finally took full control over the Government of the Czechoslovakia and all other non-Communist parties were dissolved. Yugoslavia has also chosen own path despite all the threats from Stalin. Even though Broz Tito was a Communist who has with the support of his people decided to follow the Communism ideas with decentralized system allowing works to have their own management and at the same time giving some political control to local communes.
There was also resentment of the historical events that happened in the past. Stalin felt that in 1918 the United States and Britain have been trying to ruin the Russian Revolution plus he thought that the Soviet Union was not given enough support from them during the WWII. On another hand, Stalin secretly signed the Nazi-Soviet Pact with Germany in 1939 that would certainly increase already existed suspicions from the Britain and the USA. As a result of all fears on both sides, there was a sequence of the events that made everything even worse and finally started the phase of
