Facebook takes control. Facebook is better in communication to keep in touch relations even if they are in the same city o far away. Also, Facebook is one of the means of communication used worldwide and it has over 600 million users. Additionally, this is the world’s most popular social networking website. It makes easier to connect and share photos, videos and much more with your family and friends online. Facebook has even helped web become more open and social. Besides this, there is another social media called “Twitter”, which now is one of the biggest ways to keep in contact with friends, follow closely news and entertainment and also, find out other news around the world such as: music, politics, trends, sports, etc. Twitter became very popular and it could overcome the number of Facebook users in the following years. But, even though Twitter shows more ways to keep in touch; Facebook has three main reasons to be better in communication and those are: privacy, space and promotion. First of all, Facebook allow the person to select many kinds of privacy such as: public, friends only and private. Members can choose whether or not to be searchable, decide which parts their profile are public, decide what not to put on their newsfeed and determinate exactly who can see their posts. For those members who wish to use Facebook to communicate privately, there is a message feature, which closely resembles email. On Twitter, the user just has two options in privacy: private or public, the user does not have many options such as Facebook, even if they have the option to block the person that they don’t want. For example: People will have to request to follow; each follow request has to be approved, other users will not be able to retweet the users’ tweet, those tweets will be visible only to users they have approved. Secondly, Facebook gives to the user total freedom to write more than 800 characters to describe videos, photos, games or

Social network sites spread information faster than any other media. (procon.org) 1.4 billion people use facebook world wide. (statisticbrain) According to socialnetworkingprocon.org, over 50% of people learn breaking news through social media. (procon.org) If a child went missing, law enforcement uses social media to get the word out and inform people about the missing child. Law enforcement also use social media to inform people if a criminal got loose. If a criminal were to escape, they use social media to help catch and prosecute the criminal. Social media is also much faster at sending messages, rather than fifty years ago, you had to mail a letter to communicate with them. This is especially innovative because if you have to tell someone something that is an emergency or is very urgent and they are four hours away it is much more convenient to send a message on facebook.…

There are three different social media networks that I have used ,still use, and one that I have not used myself. MySpace is one of the ones that really got social media networking to where it is now. I used to use MySpace to talk to friends, share pictures, listen to music, and share my blogs. These were the main functions that I used MySpace for. MySpace was one of the first big steps that lead other social media networking where it is. Being able to interact with your friends and family in a virtual world is a big success to being able to so be many places at once. Facebook is another social media networking tool that took the world by surprise and has also took over MySpace users. With Facebook you are able to share photos, express what is on your mind with your friends and family, write messages between you and others, and stay connected with people all over the world. Facebook came and conquered most of, if not all, social media networking web sites. The main thing that separated Facebook from any other social media web site is that it was made for college students. Little by little it became so popular that everyone wanted to be a part of this network. Businesses really took advantage of the social networking site for advertising. With so many advertising competitors on the network, it is hard for users not to take advantage of the products advertised. Businesses even have commercials that tell to “like” them on Facebook to ensure the attention of the social media users. The latest installment to the social media networking web sites that I have not used is Twitter. Twitter is different in its own way for various reasons. Twitter allows people to, share their posts or “tweets” with all of their friends at once or certain people that want to see your posts. Everything that you can do in the other two social networking sites is done completely different in the Twitter world. When you add friends they are either…

In addition to the differences in structure, Facebook and Twitter also have different friend/follower formats. Essentially, Facebook and Twitter are set up differently in the way friends are made. Facebook is set up in such a way that one can find his or her friends and send a friend request, and if one’s friend accepts, the website lists that person in the user’s friends list. Once that person has friends, he or she can use a privacy setting where only the user’s…

Sara Ridenour, in her chapter entitled "Facebook's little sister, Twitter.", elaborates on several different facets of Twitter that, in her point of view, lead to the development of greater tolerance and empathy towards each other amongst its users. She explains that Twitter users are not that concerned about the information they share on the website being public as they are aware that every other user's information is also available which leads to their expectance of more tolerance. I only partially agree with this idea because Twitter provides tweeters with the choice to either accept what other users are sharing or to completely ignore their ideas by un-following them or even blocking them. This option actually promotes intolerance as people…

Another advantage of social networking sites is that you can speak to your friends very easily. One example is that instead of meeting in a certain place, you and your friends could discuss it over the internet at the same time which can save you time and effort. People of different races can also get to know each other and mingle in just a few clicks which can help resolve racist issues. Sites like twitter are very easy to navigate and it's more scalable than Facebook. Also a lot of celebrities use twitter to contact their fans and promote their image or products.…

Another reason why Facebook is better than twitter is because there are no restrictions to having too many posts. As I was scrolling through my news feed, one of my friends on Facebook posted, “I’m tired of going to twitter jail for having too many tweets UGHH!” Obviously she likes to share some advice or some parts of her life to her followers/friends. But why waste time on twitter when Facebook has UNLIMITED posts. You can share your…
