There are three different social media networks that I have used ,still use, and one that I have not used myself. MySpace is one of the ones that really got social media networking to where it is now. I used to use MySpace to talk to friends, share pictures, listen to music, and share my blogs. These were the main functions that I used MySpace for. MySpace was one of the first big steps that lead other social media networking where it is. Being able to interact with your friends and family in a virtual world is a big success to being able to so be many places at once. Facebook is another social media networking tool that took the world by surprise and has also took over MySpace users. With Facebook you are able to share photos, express what is on your mind with your friends and family, write messages between you and others, and stay connected with people all over the world. Facebook came and conquered most of, if not all, social media networking web sites. The main thing that separated Facebook from any other social media web site is that it was made for college students. Little by little it became so popular that everyone wanted to be a part of this network. Businesses really took advantage of the social networking site for advertising. With so many advertising competitors on the network, it is hard for users not to take advantage of the products advertised. Businesses even have commercials that tell to “like” them on Facebook to ensure the attention of the social media users. The latest installment to the social media networking web sites that I have not used is Twitter. Twitter is different in its own way for various reasons. Twitter allows people to, share their posts or “tweets” with all of their friends at once or certain people that want to see your posts. Everything that you can do in the other two social networking sites is done completely different in the Twitter world. When you add friends they are either…
In the age of technology, trends come and go almost instantaneously. The trend of the decade; Social Media. Ten years ago when someone thought of Social Media, he or she only thought about Myspace. Today, however, Myspace is an afterthought, and there are two new faces atop the Social Media world. These new faces are Facebook and Twitter. They may seem very similar but they are extraordinarily different in their overall structure, their friend/follower format and their communication layout.…
“Twitter” is a network which allows a person to express their opinion on many subjects or just post a status message at any given point of time. Facebook and Myspace are the same to Twitter but these two networking sites allow you to leave a private message to a friend or family and it is easier to post pictures to your account. Social networking doesn't just bring us to a computer or into the cyber regions of technology, but it also connects people in ways that other media networks cannot provide.…
In the following essay, the benefits and consequences of social networking are explained and the different uses of social media are revealed. Websites, such as Facebook, have grown so popular that they have been created into mobile apps for individuals to use when he or she is unable to access a computer. With the significant increase in the number of its users, social networking has become a universal activity with its positive effects outweighing its negative ones. From being able to connect people from the opposite sides of the world to being able to provide a surplus of information, social networking sites have had a symbolic impact on the society that exists today. Without them, relationships would lose their potential to truly bloom and communication would become extremely limited. And although their opponents may claim that they bring too many safety risks, which include the effects that cyber bullying may bring, these websites have brought many advancements and have changed themselves over time to create a better environment for their users. The positive effects that social networking has created can be found everywhere, whether it is by enabling companions to communicate after a separation or by creating memorable relationships.…
The connections that myspace, facebook, and twitter, have made between us to the rest of the world, have made a big impact on socialization. Because we now have the ability to contact friends, family members, and other relatives via these sites, we no longer have the worry of ridiculously high phone bills. We can connect the family members in Australia, while chatting with others in Spain. It has opened up a whole new experience to those who have relatives all over the world.…
A social networking website launched in February 2004, Facebook has gained in some made up war with rivalries: MySpace and LinkedIn. However, Twitter, the micro blogging site started in 2006, has forced Facebook onto a collision course despite having some key difference between the sites. Facebook has about 150 million users, compared with twitter’s 6 million. And the users of twitter are in increasing number. The monopoly held by Facebook as a social networking site now appears to be threatened by twitter. Facebook in the past was once threatened by MySpace and LinkedIn but has since gained momentum in the years gone by.…
In addition, Jenkins highlights the profound development in social convergence in media worldwide. Social networks like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter helps people keep in touch or stay connected with their loved ones. In the article, Jenkins illustrates the benefits of the media convergence in a society: “Being a lover or a mommy or a teacher occurs on multiple platforms. Sometimes we tuck our kids into bed at night and other time we Instant Message them from the other side of the globe” (466). The internet helps people keep in touch or stay connected with loved ones. Social networks alerts people in daily lives, making them more efficient. It create and maintains a variety of different relationships all over the world. The popularity of the social networking sites increased rapidly in the last decade. This is probably due to the reason that college and university students as well as teens used it extensively to get global access. These social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook have become a raging craze for everyone nowadays.…
Another reason why Facebook is better than twitter is because there are no restrictions to having too many posts. As I was scrolling through my news feed, one of my friends on Facebook posted, “I’m tired of going to twitter jail for having too many tweets UGHH!” Obviously she likes to share some advice or some parts of her life to her followers/friends. But why waste time on twitter when Facebook has UNLIMITED posts. You can share your…
The use of social media through computer and mobile devices has spread quickly, and its available almost for everyone around the world and currently, the two most prominent interfaces are Facebook and Twitter. Facebook allows users to create profiles and allows them to interact with each other and to share their interests between them. It allows them to build and maintain connections and invite others to join a community. In contrast, Twitter is a social media interface that enables users to share a limited amount of user-generated content, quickly and easily, to an extensive number of other users. With this interface, the communication exchange is central, and the creation and sharing of user profiles is not necessary, but Twitter can link to user profiles that exist on other social media interfaces. These two are the most common sites that people use to communicate and they spend…
Social media has had a major influence on society in the 21st century, enabling people to engage with each other in radically new and different ways. In less than a decade, it has transformed how we stay in touch with friends, shop, network and gather our news. Many of the almost 1 billion users of Facebook — and the millions who use Twitter, or blogs — cannot imagine communicating without these tools. Hence, there is a great impact of social media on relationships, among people.…
There isn’t a day when I’m not on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn; there isn’t a day when I don’t learn something new. My view of the world, of brands, my experiences and purchase behaviour, my view of what I do and don’t have in common with others are shaped by social media. Not to the exclusion of all else but certainly in addition to all else. Hundreds of millions of people around the world shape and are shaped by social media to a bigger or lesser extent. For some social is about Yelp, TripAdvisor and review sites. In China, RenRen is the biggest social platform while Weibo services (China’s Twitter equivalent) claims a combined registered user base in excess of 400 million. In Russia (arguably the most engaged social networking audience worldwide), Vkontakte is the largest social networking site and use of Twitter has grown three-fold in 2010 alone. Reports have social media spending accounting for approx.. 10-12% of total advertising budgets in 2011; And of course who can ignore Facebook, which has a reach greater than most TV networks in US and Europe combined.…
kind of people will be online and join their sites, so the risks are obviously not…
Secondly, Twitter is another active social networking website that is popular. The difference in Twitter is that there is not a lot of social relationship or social building. Twitter is designed for keeping people updated on the current events and important topics.…
Facebook and Twitter are an online social networking service which can be used as often as you choose. These websites are used by people to keep up with family and friends sometimes also for business purposes, near and far to send messages or chat with one another.
