“Yes darling, it’s for work and they have no one else that can come in.”
“But mum you know what’s going to happen, dad’s going to watch TV or something and I’ll have to follow Jacob everywhere he goes”
“Hayley, I’ll talk to your dad and no one has ever asked you to look after Jacob, he’s 10, I am sure he’ll be fine.”
“Argh, fine I won’t but if he gets hurt or something its not my fault”
This is the part where I storm into my room and slam my door, mum knows I am going to have to look after him, dad has way to much trust in Jacob! I hear mums car drive out so I slowly come out of my room and make a sandwich for myself. Dad comes up and tells me that he’s going for a nap…what a surprise.
Jacob is my annoying little brother who never stops, and he never leaves me alone. It been what three maybe four minutes since mums gone and he’s already babbling about something to me.
“…Come on lets go exploring the house…”
We just recently moved into my mums’ childhood house. Apparently it was originally my great great grandmothers’ house, and then my great grandparents bought it off her, and my granddad bought it off them and just two months ago my parents bought it off them. The house is defiantly big enough for my 4 person family, but I don’t know how 8 people used to live in it. It sits on a big hill that Jacob and I go on with our bikes, mum is always telling us the stories of her and her siblings’ crashes on it. Like the time when Uncle Billy was walking their dogs down it and the dog bolted and uncle went with the dog and was dragged down the hill. Of course I am much more careful, but I can’t say the same for Jacob, who was still talking to me…
“…what if we find the treasure that great grandad lost, in the house…”
Oh no! Not the legend of the gold… there are rumours that once upon a time my great grandad was looking for the very rare Shy Sun Orchid. It was late in the day and he was about to give up when he came across
