Antibiotics in animals produce unhealthy food. In the article “Understanding Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations and Their Impact on Communities” (Carrie Hribar) it states “This is a serious threat to human health because fewer options exist to help people overcome disease when infected with antibiotic-resistant pathogens”. This shows that when the farmers are feeding and injecting antibiotics into the animals that they stay in the animals system. When humans eat it, it can get into their system which will cause them to become immune to the antibiotics so when they are sick it won’t help because their body is use to it. Some may say, “Nearly half of the antibiotics used are nearly identical to ones given to humans” but when humans get to many of these antibiotics their body gets used to it which causes it harder to get over human illnesses. In general, when medication is injected into something or someone then it will stay within it.
Global health risks are being produced in factory farms. In the article “5 modern diseases grown by the factory farming” (Monica Nickelsburg) it states “Unnaturally high concentrations of animals confined indoors in a limited airspace and producing significant quantities of waste may allow for the rapid selection, amplification and dissemination of zoonotic pathogens”. This article shows that animals are getting sick from all the waste they are producing and getting diseases. Also it states, “Mad cow disease first appeared in the 1980s as a result of offal, a mixture of the organs and entrails of butchered cattle in feed”. This shows that there have been diseases caused by factory farming from keeping the animals in air tight spaces. In general, when places are surrounded with disease whatever is near it or in it with also get infected with the disease.
