Failure In College Essay
Failure is a relative term. What one perceives as failure, may not be exactly what another might. The failure I have experienced in the past year has not been conventional. I did not fail any classes, or fail at making friends at the University of Arizona, I simply failed at throughly understanding how much the University of Colorado Boulder meant to me. That might sound corny, but when you grew up coming to every sporting event your dad could take you to, you fall in love with CU pretty easily. I had always said I would go to CU, that was the dream. As time passed, and senior year rolled around I felt the need for change. I wanted to be different from the rest of my family, and forge my own unique path in life. August came, I packed up my possessions, and headed south, to Tucson. …show more content…
I must admit in the days when I was deciding I felt as though I had not succeeded in my goals. I failed in the pursuit of a college experience in another state. Then, eventually, I found clarity. What felt like a failure, an end to my independent adventure, was just the beginning. The experiences I have gained in Arizona are invaluable to my growth as a human. I learned how to thrive in a school setting, despite it not being ideal for my education. I developed social skills I never needed growing up in a small town, with the same friends from kindergarten to graduation. In some aspects, I failed. However, this failure has changed me. I became self aware, and I matured. The adventure I dreamed about is not coming to a close. Hopefully, it is progressing to a place better suited for me. Knowing that I could make the decision to pursue coming back to Colorado, has assured me that in the future I can make the important decisions for the betterment of myself, despite how challenging they may seem. Throughout this time of failure, I blossomed into a more confident person, which is a vital skill I will need when my future career in journalism takes

Therefore, no matter the goal you are trying to reach, always know failure comes with the enjoyment of success. If I felt like a failure after finding out I did not receive the opportunity to be accepted into the school, I would not have been able to push myself to become greater. Try and you shall succeed. If being successful or achieving a goal was easy; many people would be successful already. However, since being successful or achieving a goal takes a great deal of time and comes with failure; some people rather give up than keep on…

A lack of success is one of those aspects of life that at first is upsetting, maybe even frustrating that ends up helping someone blossom. People learn from their defeats, learn to change and accept. Now I had an important decision to make: let cognitive dissonance take over and curb my toward what the epitome of success had to offer, or realize that maybe this place wasn't for me. I want to be in a place open to ideas with plenty of classes from which to choose, I want to study what I dream about and, most importantly, I want to be my own person, not one in a crowd of many. I decided to revise my previous idea of what a successful life meant and do what I felt would prepare me for who I wanted to be as an adult; I canceled my application and explained to my family why I took such a drastic step. On my own time, I figured out who I wanted to be, even if that meant not having the fortune and fame that came with stereotypical success, and this made me feel like a new person. I know I will not regret my decision and that my future is going in the proper direction for me to reach my goal: to study microbiology throughout college and graduate school, and work at the CDC, a dream completely different from the one I started with, but also one so much more true to my…

My experience with failure came with athletics. For my whole life I have always been involved in sports like soccer, tennis, basketball. When I was in the fourth grade I joined a swim team and that was the first and really only sport that I stuck with; swimming came naturally to me, and it was something that I could do year round and I loved every minute of it. However, once I was in high school I stopped swimming and joined my high school’s cross country team. My dad was a runner all throughout high school so I thought it would be a good idea to give the sport my father loved a chance. The cross country team allowed me to grow, and I learned things about myself including that fact that I can’t run. It’s not that I can’t physically run, I have…

World view can be defined as many things and used in many different ways. Without knowing, our world view will shape how we live our lives, how we interact with people and how we learn. In our childhood we are taught the right ways of behaving in certain situations and so too in our development in our own set of principles to live by. Things we are taught from childhood can become set principles we live by in later life or can influence the decisions we make to give us our 'world view ' aswe can not find other examples due to age. A time when I experienced extreme failure was when I was in my sophomore year of high school. When I started the year, I had the mindset of, “This is going to be easy. I’m not going to sweat it.” Reason being, in my freshman year, I passed all my classes easily and I thought the next school year would be the same. I was in for a rude awakening by then. It was my first year starting an AP class and I heard stories that it was going to be easy if one paid attention in class. As the first semester went, it was a struggle already. I had easily underestimated the workload and found myself barely passing with a C. I have the type of personality where I put a lot of pressure on myself and stress out easily; as one can imagine, I was very hard on myself.…

For some people it takes forever to figure out that failure is not always a bad thing, while at the time it may seem like the end of the world. “We are all potentially capable of any human act.” (Roth 39). Maybe consider though, that failure was what brought them back up to the best, hardest working person that they could be and it did not take long for them to retrieve what they had lost and made it ten times better!…
