Environmental issues are becoming more and more important in our throwaway society. Companies are taxed on the waster they produce that is not recycled.

Design Task:
‘Recyclaphone’ a company who are environmentally aware and specialise in recycling and marketing mobile phones need to promote their products. Design, prototype and package a high quality mobile phone. The phone must be packaged for its safety and security and presented with promotional material ready for launch to the public

Design Brief:
As the Managing Director of a new company, called ‘Recyclaphone,’ it is your job to design, prototype and market a new environmentally friendly and recyclable Mobile Phone. In addition, you will need to develop the brand identity for the Company, design suitable packaging for its safety and security and present promotional material suitable for its launch to the public. dfffffffffffffffMonster Energy- Monster energy, made by Hansen natural, created in 2002. In 2003 they launched their first zero calorie energy drink which for me reflects it with the logo they have with the bright colours representing the naturalness in their drinks. The colours of this logo are seductive as the black for me represents temptation and the green light breaking through the background shows that ‘Monster’ are trying to make you see that this drink is natural(clean) even though the drinks they produce are not very natural and pure as such. But the ‘M ‘ with the rocky edges can represent danger and ruggedness. Harley Davidson
Founded in 1903, this company sells expensive, heavy motorcycles to the public. Generally their target audience is people who like the motorcycle gang scene, so their logo has to reflect that and I think it has very well with the jagged edges of the badge it represents the stereo typical biker. The orange colours shows the danger and power in the logo

    Recycling and waste prevention are two very important ways to help address the issues of the environment concerning climate change. Recycling is a very beneficial factor that more individuals need to exercise in order to improve the environment’s pollution, reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, and save energy and natural resources that are used to produce products from virgin materials rather than from recycled materials, which uses less energy and produces less harmful pollution.     In the article, “Recycling Is Not Garbage” environmentally Defense fund scientist Richard A. Denison and economic analyst John F. Ruston rebut a series of myths that they say have been promoted by industrial opponents in an effort to undermine the environmentally valuable and successful recycling movement. One of them is that recycling is not necessary because landfilling trash is environmentally safe. But this statement is simply wrong. “In fact, 250 out of 1,204 toxic waste sites on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund National Priority List are former municipal solid waste landfills” (Denison 280). That means landfills are major sources of air and water pollution, including greenhouse gas emissions. Another myth is that recycling is not cost effective, and should pay for itself. As discussed in “Recycling Is Not Garbage” an analysis of nine years of detailed data collected by the Seattle Solid Waste Utility shows that, after a two year startup period, recycling services saved the city's solid waste management program $1.7 to $2.8 million per year (Denison 281).     As the population of the world increases rapidly, the rate of consumption of different materials is also increasing; therefore there is an associated increase in the production of waste. This over consumption of materials can be seen in many areas: waste of energy, natural resources and the trees used for the production of paper. One of the fastest growing examples of this type of waste, is the disposal of electrics and electronic equipment, also known as E-waste. According to Heberlein (2006), a brief definition of E-waste might be a mix of waste containing electronic and electric devices. This waste accounts for 4 percent of civil waste in the European Union. Additionally, the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery-DRRRC (2005) suggests that E-waste is the popularised name for the electronic products which are nearing the end of their useful lives and are discarded despite the fact that many of these devices can be reused, refurbished, and recycled.
