The early twentieth century in Russia saw people from many different levels of society experience grievances due to the poor leadership and decision making of Nicholas II. Nicholas failed to see the problems his people were dealing with and was too caught up in keeping Russia under autocratic rule. The grievances the Russian people experienced ranged from political, social and economic. Each social class had different criticisms and issues with the Russian government but the dissatisfaction with the government was a shared feeling all over Russia. The social classes that experienced major grievances included the peasants, industrial workers and the nobility.…
While the article stresses the differences for each generation, she evaluations which generations should work well together and why. Again, she argues the historical events surrounding each generation and why she feels these events might cause similarities between members of each group. For example, she compares the outlook of the generation that came through the Great Depression to be similar to the younger generation that saw their parents lose jobs in the late 1990s. She emphasizes that similarities like this make these generations more compatible because they share attitudes about the economic strife they…

One way in which the family unit has changed since the 1970's is the change in marriage rates. While marriage in the UK is still the majority among families, there has been a decline in the number of marriages, the age in which people are choosing to marry and the duration of marriages. In 1971 1% of all marriages in the UK ended after two years. In 1996 this figure increased to 9%. (Mark Kirby, 2000, p. 58). This suggests that marriage less important than it once was. There are a number for reasons as to why there is a change in marriage. It is argued that because women now have more freedom of choice than they did in the past, they may be choosing simply not to marry. Others suggest that women are now choosing to put off marriage till a later date so that they can focus on their careers and education. Another reason for the change in marriage could be due to the undermining of the need to marry, now that it has become socially acceptable to cohabit or be single, many people choose not to marry. As well as this women are no longer dependant on men to be a 'bread winner' and provide for them. Lorraine Harding (1996) argues that the main decline in marriage occurred around the 1970's due to greater levels of unemployment. Strain may have been…

Old thinks him as gold, young's calls the old as fools. The fight between the old and the young is not new and has been bound in the culture of every nation of the world. Generation gap is a more modern term for the difference between generations, or another term for the "clash" between the opinions, the attitudes and the behaviors of the younger and the older generations. The inevitable progress of time and technologies makes the introduction of new ideas, new believes, and new values unavoidable. Difference between the present generation and previous generations are made evident through their different experiences, attitudes, and values. Old people always have fixed beliefs, practices, customs, and they think every aspect of their belief is the best whereas youngsters think that the customs, beliefs, practices by the old are useless and backdated, so they must be replaced by the new rules, ideologies, dreams of the new age. In the era of globalization and liberalization, the gap between the young the old has reached its zenith. The key factor that makes the generation gap wider is the open mindedness of the present generation. The older generation seems to be more closed minded to different ideas and viewpoints, while the present generation seems to embrace them. The youngsters have free mind and aspire freedom more than anything. They do not want anything which acts as a barrier to their thinking and when old people acts as a block to their aspiration there is a clash between the two and this enlarges the generation gap and frustrates both the young and old. Now the life has become very competitive and fast. So, youngsters have to run very fast to cope up with the competition of the world and prove themselves as the best. But the old generation can never cope up with the speed of the younger generation. Laziness, selfishness, and greed have infected the present generation. Since the previous generations have made life so much easier for us, many do not truly…
