Famous Thinkers
There are so many famous and great thinkers in this world, but the two that come to mind immediately would have to be Bill Gates and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Although totally opposite in their thinking and accomplishments, these two gentlemen have made an impact that literally changed the world in some way. Their contributions, although one for financial reasons and another for human dignity and respect, truly epitomizes creative and critical thinking at its best. It seems he was destined for great things with his great grandfather having been a state legislator and mayor, his grandfather having been a vice president of a national bank and his father having been a prominent lawyer (Mirick, 1996). He displayed ambition, intelligence and a competitive spirit at a very young age and excelled by surpassing all his peers in all subjects, especially math and science. But it was his curiosity, drive and vision for success that provided the passion and obsession that would lead his creative and critical thinking to the success and contributions that we all benefit from today in the world of computer operating systems and other software. No one can say for sure if someone like Bill Gates had not come along, driven by success and the ability to create and write computer programs that we would not be where we are today, but the fact of the matter is that his innovative ideas provide us the computing that we enjoy throughout the world today, and not just in the United States. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man that wanted to utilize his creative and critical thinking to help build equality in America. His ultimate main goal was to urge the nation to fulfill the promise of the Declaration of Independence that “All men are created equal (Fleming, 2011).” His creative process was based on a sincere dedication of his life to fight against inequalities for minorities. Dr. King utilized his creative process to build harmony among the angry African-Americans and went against other black leaders by emphasizing peace and non-violent marches and speeches. He found no need to be angry or bitter, but to use his love and belief in god to help guide anyone that would follow him and believe in
