The piece by Castillo is a personal reflection that offers a peculiar and particular point of view from one person, and that represents how people permeates their surrounding reality, in this case the Mexican Revolution. These kinds of sources are extremely valuable in order to listen to the average voices. Especially in the case of underprivileged groups, such as indigenous populations and women, sometimes this is the only opportunity to grasp intimate daily moments, practices, and customs.…
3. Simon Rodriguez – my tutor and mentor throughout my childhood and later when I had liberated Latin America. I made him "Director for Public Education, Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Arts" and "Director of Mines, Agriculture and Public Roads” of Bolivia once I liberated it.…
“Sor Juana” is a biography of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz written by Octavio Paz and translated by Margaret Sayers Peden. It is a book of 470 pages divided in six parts that besides Sor Juana’s life and work, explain the difficulties of the time for an intellectual woman. It was published by The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1988. Reading this book gave me the best opportunity to know more about someone that although has been very influential in my entire life, I didn’t know all her history. My admiration and respect for Sor Juana started since I was a child and one of my sisters used to read her poems. Through my literature classes I knew a little more about her and the…
Laughter, let downs, memories, and regrets are all aspects of life itself. Explaining these aspects is the hardest part. When is laughter present? When are let downs expected? Where can memories lead? How do these all affect someone in the long run? The poem “Schoolsville” does a great job of representing life itself. It points towards life in general and explains the comical, serious and memorable, then poignant parts of life.…
Over the years of 1877 to the 1900’s many changes were occurring. The Southern cities were changing faster than anyone could’ve imagined with new transportation, growing industries, and the end of slavery. Not to mention, the changing role of women.…
In the turn of the 20th century, an enormous wave of change swept across the nation. As the trend of modernism crashed into the shores of American life, traditional values washed out to sea. However, changing tides also brought sunlight upon modern culture. Rapid urbanization, economic growth, industrial production, invention and innovation in technology contributed to the rise of a new consumer culture. By the second decade, the United States liberated from the restrictions of conservatism. Many positive changes were the result. It became possible for the average American to buy things that were once considered inaccessible, and discoveries in science encouraged people to reassess their moral beliefs and behavior. However, there could be…

Finally, the students are reunited with families and allowed to mingle with their teachers. Reaggregation takes place, and former adolescents and high school students are reintroduced to their new positions as young adults and as graduates of their secondary school (Schultz & Lavenda 2005, p. 167). The sharing of food and drink with the rest of the social group affirms and welcomes them to their new…
Good evening everyone; teachers, faculty, family, friends, and the Walkerville graduating class of 2008! Wow. This day arrived so quickly – this final high school farewell seemed so distant, but it snuck up on us before we knew it. School is tricky like that; one hour and fifteen minutes can feel as long as “”, while the end of the school year can come around as fast as “Brandon Holland running the 200 meter dash. The other three years went by quickly, but none accelerated as much as this final school year. And what an amazing time it has been, Walkerville – from grade nine to now, the experiences have been unforgettable, and small wonder, considering how incredible this school is and the amazing students that make up this graduating class. There is no other school like Walkerville. it is the best high school in Windsor Essex county. Walkerville is in its own class altogether - When I look at this graduating class, I see a group of outstanding young adults. I see so much respect, acceptance, and just all around an extremely classy group of guys and gals. The talent here, especially in this senior year is phenomenal. This senior student body is made up of simply amazing actors, athletes, artists, dancers, writers, photographers, singers, really smart people, and musicians. But at Walkerville, the talent never stops at one category. To just name a few, athletes take art and dance classes, dancers play bassoon, artists sing, musicians participate in extreme stunts such as the four man piggyback, swimmers play piano, businessmen play broomball, historians write toxic love poems, and if you’re a male dancer, then you’re a hero in general. Moreover, this graduating class is a stellar example of how extraordinary ability can be combined with good character and school spirit. This senior year has constantly shown love for their school, simply by getting involved in any way possible. Helping out at events such as frosh day…
Walking into the school and the school principal welcome my visit. She introduced me the class and teacher that I will observe for the day. The class was well-organized and it was very attractive learning environment in many different perspectives.…
Kind begets kind: high school reunions spin off middle school reunions and elementary school reunions. Many of these students value their common history; they were neighborhood playmates; they started school together and remained friends throughout their academic careers. Some even became sweethearts and soul mates, and became families. The positive effects of this scenario become the source of such a wellspring of nostalgia, re-living and remembering successes and happiness from the good-old-days, it is bound to promote these gatherings, the afore-mentioned reunions, to be repeated at appropriate intervals, so long as willing participants can be found and committees can be…
From class time discussions to Christmas plays, we have enjoyed every single day within this community. Days filled with joy, laughter, and even sometimes sorrows have been our foundation to move to our next step. Our teachers have completed their mission and successfully prepared us for middle school.…
I’m very pleased to have been invited to speak here today on what I know is a very special day. It’s special for the graduates, for their proud parents and grandparents, and for their very relieved teachers. Just wait until these students are graduating college. Then their parents will be the…
It had represented the culmination of years of our hard work, careful planning, and studiousness. We must say goodbye to the fun and excitement of college days and enter the real world. As graduates, we’re reminded of duty to uphold and the finest traditions of the university and act in a spirit of honesty and integrity. During the graduation exercise I became bored.…
