Faults In Romeo And Juliet

Faults in a character’s behavior are often caused by a force beyond man’s control or by human action. In the play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare identifies this argument by writing about two people who are always meant to be with one another, but an ongoing feud between their families, the Capulets and Montagues, always seems to keep these lovers a part. In the play, Romeo and Juliet find themselves in many problems from events that appeared to be laid out from the beginning that then cause consequential endings. As a result, the play structure shows that while these “star crossed” lovers did make foolish decisions, many of these events were caused by their destiny, and were beyond their control. Although Romeo and Juliet made harsh choices during the play that impacted their life, ultimately, all of these actions were controlled by a greater force where everything was to happen for a reason, resulting in death for both.
At Capulet’s party, Romeo sneaks in searching for Rosaline, but in the process of finding her, he sees Juliet and immediately falls in love with her because of her beauty: “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (I.V.51-52). From the prologue in the beginning of the play, Romeo has no intention of finding Juliet at the party and Juliet was to meet her soon-to-be husband, Paris, but this displays that it was fate that brought them together and cause them to instantaneously fall in love.
