Faulty Worldview
Going back to the treatment discussion, treatments for our sufferers follow from the idea that our sufferers have a faulty worldview, and that as such, to treat our sufferers what needs to be done is to fix this worldview. To do this, we need to bring their worldview back in line with a normal one. The problem for our case is that neither disorder appears treatable at our current time. Changing their worldview seems to be too great a challenge. The literature suggests that there are currently three preferred treatments. The first is medicative. Maibom holds that there has been much fanfare in recent years about the possibility of using medications to treat our sufferers . However, following from Graham, we know that we should be skeptical of …show more content…
Really, we don’t know how our minds will react to certain medications, and so it doesn’t follow that these medicative solutions will necessarily be successful, as there will most likely be cases where the medicine is ineffective for the treatment. The medicative treatment then, fails as it does not necessitate us helping the sufferer. The second and third treatments appear to me as potentially more fruitful options, as they involve a more direct approach to changing our sufferers’ worldviews. So, if our sufferers felt negatively towards the law, mentalization would try and change our sufferers’ feelings towards the law, so as to promote a normal relationship with the law. Now, for our sufferers to be treated by mentalization seems

By completing this matrix, I have learned that it is possible for all of the therapy approaches to be beneficial in treating some of the same disorders. Some probably work more effectively for certain disorders than others however; they all seem to be effective to some extent, either short- or long-term results, to all of the disorders listed. All of the therapy approaches in this matrix are directed toward mental health disorders. The matrix has also opened my eyes to realization that I have much studying to do to be able pin-point most effective treatments to certain disorders rather than generalized disorder categories.…

Psychiatric medication wasn’t developed until the 1950 's (Ferguson, 186). In days that are now long forgotten, society stigmatized people with mental illnesses so much that they were kept chained up in asylums (Ferguson, 187). People also used to categorize people who were in prison and people with mental illnesses as the same thing. Until one day somebody brought up the fact that they didn’t think it was right. So then a few years later, they resulted in moving them to different sides of the hospital. Some people, taking meds, can function better. And they may only need to take them for a short amount of time (Mental, np). Taking medication doesn 't always cure the disorder, but it helps to make the person function better (Mental, np).…

The understanding of mental illness today since the early 1900s has changed significantly. In the 1900s, people still had no real understanding of what caused mental illnesses, let alone how to treat the disease. The disease was feared and was seen as incurable. Mentally ill patients would be sent to asylums, and as a form of treatment they were tortured. Until in the later 1900s, it was discovered that certain factors and drug therapy could be a treatment to cure the mentally ill. Today there are various forms of treatment and treatment settings for the different mental illnesses that help to benefit the patients’ condition.…

Competing worldviews are breaking out everywhere especially throughout North America. Two sides with vastly differing and incompatible worldviews are being locked in a bitter conflict that permeates every level of society. On one side of the battle is the Christian worldview, and on the other is the Humanist worldview divided into three branches: Secular Humanism, Marxism/Leninism, and Cosmic Humanism. It’s in this essay that we will seek to understand all of the three Humanist worldviews while presenting a strong, honest, truthful, intelligent defense of Biblical Christianity. As believers in and followers of Jesus Christ, we need to consider how our commitment to Him affects not just our political and ethical convictions, but also the way…

Medicalization is the process in which non-medical issues are redefined in terms of illnesses or disorders and treated with the assistance of biomedicine. As medicalization evolves, medical intervention is used to alleviate the undesired symptoms of human life, which often leads to pharmaceutical companies developing and advertising medications to assist in treating medicalized illnesses. As a result, more and more human processes and behaviors being diagnosed as medical or pathological illnesses are being treated with medications that remove the discomforts of aging, mood fluctuation, grief and deviant behaviors; allowing one to be better than well. While many medicalized illness can be treated without pharmaceutical intervention, drug therapy…
