ON The Macroeconomic performance of Dubai (UAE)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report gives the “big picture” of Dubai by analyzing economy-wide phenomena such as ECONOMIC OUTPUT, UNEMPLOYMENT, INFLATION, INVESTMENTS, GDP and Other factors. The report also highlights the key steps and reforms taken by the Government of UAE during and after the GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS to mitigate the losses and improve their economy. At the end the report highlights the key contributors to the GDP (sector-wise) and highlights the sectors which are growing rapidly. This is a key note in which investors will be interested as it shows the potential areas of investing.
AIM OF THE REPORT
This consultancy report aims at giving a succinct macroeconomic analysis and evaluation of UAE and in particularly that of Dubai.
BRIEF HISTORY OF DUBAI
The UAE is a wealthy, medium-sized economy located in The Middle East. UAE has a population of 10.41 million people (Quandlbeta).
The UAE is made up of 7 Emirates or provinces. They are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). Each Emirate varies significantly in size, population, hydrocarbon resources and economic structure. Dubai is the second largest Emirate in the UAE in terms of size and population. Dubai still has significant hydrocarbon reserves and revenue, relative to its population, but its production has declined since the late 1990s. (QNB Group, 2013)
Dubai’s vision was always to become the economic hub and the financial centre of the region. Structurally Dubai is determined to boost long term non-oil GDP growth relying on the production of non-oil products and the provision of the services. Dubai is counting on major economic sectors for the realization of this vision. These are namely
