The task of designing a mechanical component with design software then reverse engineering the same component in hyper mesh was assigned to groups. The engineering component chosen by group 10 is a piston for standard automobiles. The design is then accessed and redesigned for the primary purpose of improving the product. This group 10 the principle area of improvement is the weight, to achieve this, the initial material choice for design medium carbon steel is changed to aluminium alloy
INTRODUCTION
Engineering is an emergent field that continuously evolves to suit the rapid changes of a globalized world over centuries. Engineering fields are frequently refining upon present designs and procedures to make life simple and easier. For engineering to be as evolutionary the implementation of technology is necessary to make processes simple and easy which in engineering terms are mean fast and accurate. Simple refers to be consumption of valuable time in assembly or specific task and easy meaning number of times process or task is done with little or no technical difficulty. Engineering is described as “the application of scientific and mathematical principles to practical ends such as the design, manufacture, and operation of efficient and economical structures, machines, processes, and systems”. This type of engineering is more commonly known as Forward Engineering. A developing engineering concept is exploiting forward engineering in a reverse manner. This method is further usually referred to as Reverse Engineering.
REVERSE ENGINEERING
Reverse engineering is basically the opposite of forward engineering. It takes a present product, and generates a CAD model, for modification or reproduction to the design feature of the product. It can also be defined as ‘Systematic evaluation of a product with the determination of duplication. This includes design of a fresh part, copy of a present part, retrieval of a damaged or cracked part, enhancement of model
