fear of been hurt
Men and women have different thoughts and feelings towards love. Generally women are always ready to take responsibilities of any relationships and ready to give commitment, but that’s not the case with men. When it comes to commitment men think to escape because they feel trapped with the thought of living with a woman for long time. I can’t blame men for that, maybe it is because they feel they are very strong and don’t need anyone in life but the fact is that men become frustrated if they are alone. Why most of the men are scared of commitment. Here I’m sharing a few common reasons that scare a man from commitment, though it changes from person to person, according to his past experiences. It’s a woman who can give that comfort to a man, and make him understand why commitment is important, and how it’s not so bad. But, first let’s talk about some of the reasoning behind men’s fear of commitment.
The fear of being hurt: Men feel that love hurts a lot and they don’t want to get hurt in love. They feel that woman will leave them and she would never be with them for long term. This feeling makes men think they should stay away from commitment and keep relationships moving so they don’t have any feelings of insecurity. Any habits we’ve long had that allow us to feel self-focused or self-contained start to fall by the wayside. We tend to believe that the more we care, the more we can get hurt.
The fear of not finding perfect mate: Men always want good women for long term relationship, who should be ready to change for him and meet his expectations. Sometimes this feeling becomes scary for guys when they keep searching for the perfect one and they don’t find her. They can never commit to a woman whom they don’t find to be perfect and in the search process men forgets that woman are human beings and she also may have negative points . The more we have, the more we have to lose. The more someone means to us, the more afraid we are of losing that

The evolutionary perspective on relationship breakdown is another explanation into the breakdown of romantic relationships. Perilloux and Buss (2008) have developed an explanation of why evolution might have shaped the behaviour of rejecters and rejectees differently. Their research is based on four main predictions. The first prediction is the costs related to emotional investment. In a relationship, women will consider the costs of losing the stability of a relationship whereas, if a male has high emotional investment in a relationship, he is more likely to share his resources. However, if the relationship breaks down, the male may leave his children unsupported. This highlights the importance of a males resources to the…

    c. Fear of intimacy helps establish and maintain intimacy by preventing us from getting hurt. Some people form many friendships while others form one close intimate relationship. This fear of intimacy can come in many different forms such as failure, vulnerable, rejection, sex, responsibility, abandonment, and much more. These all are caused by fear. Glendon Association notes that we bring our fear from family experiences into intimate relationships and from there we stop disclosing and trusting so we don’t get hurt but in turn we end up pushing the other person away.…

There is data that shows that some men want to control and dominate women. Data also shows that some men are looking for the "ideal wife" who silently accepts their controlling and dominant ways. Abuser men tend to justify their actions because women are seen as weak, emotional and short-sighted, so men believe that women need to be guided and controlled. Men who believe that they are entitled to the male privilege often resort to violence (Schrock & Padavic, 2007). The role of women has been rapidly changing in society. Men are not against women's empowerment but don't want to lose their control over women. Men consider it a cowardly act to beat women but still do it to coerce the women. Belief in stereotypes might be a factor behind men controlling and…

Women often feel unloved because their emotional needs aren’t being met, and in the same way, men often feel ignored because their physical needs aren’t being met. What women mean by intimacy is deep emotional connection, sharing and hearing the heart of the loved, the ability to cry easily and together at emotional moments, a sensitivity to know immediately when feelings are hurt, understanding each other’s dreams and goals, and closeness of the heart and soul. However, what men mean by intimacy is physical connection, foreplay, hand-holding, hugging and kissing, understanding each other’s physical needs, an ability to communicate physical needs, physical time alone together and a sensitivity to know when physical needs are present. These are the ways of love – the different ways of love between man and…

In Women who love too much (1985), Robin Norwood describes women who gain their sense of mission by loving broken, emotionally needy man at expense of self-sacrifice and who blur the boundary of romantic love and suffering itself. She also notes that sometimes, it is through over-involvement in a one-sided, even destructive relation can women achieve sense of control and strength (ibid.).…

    why men don't last

In the article "Why Men Don’t Last," Natalie Angier discusses the topic of why men don’t live as long as women; even though they almost always appear to be healthier. The first reason Angier gives as to why men die sooner than a woman is: they are stubborn about going to the doctors for regular check-ups. Men say they don’t need doctors and refuse; this leads to health problems that could have been prevented. Next it's because men are more likely to either drive more carelessly than women or drunk after a night out. Men are also more likely than women to be alcoholics and drug addicts. Angier also states that men are more likely to carry out a suicide attempt. Women tend to think more about it; men tend to think about it and actually do it because they don’t want to admit that they failed or are not good at something. The final reason Angier gives is: men die sooner than women because they are bigger risk-takers. Men tend to do more things that can potentially be harmful. On the other hands, Angier discusses is how men perceive how they are supposed to act: tough, macho, independent, and that they shouldn’t cry or be a mama's boy and that they can survive on their own. However, what men don’t know is that they really do need someone to care for.…

The theory may also explain the tendency to form relationships or “pair bonds”. According to Wilson (1978) Men form pair bonds to be cared for, maintain the prospect for constant sex (lots of offspring) and also be sure that the children are theirs. Women form a pair bonds for the protection, calm of mind of knowing they have a mate, being able to pick a perfect mate and getting the resources of the male joined to theirs.…

Due to the evolutionary psychologists in the text „Nature Versus Nurture: The Battle Continues“ women and men have no choice how they act. Both are bound to different behavior patterns, which is the consequence of the evolutionary progress. All along the task of the men was to impregnate as most woman as possible to save the continuity of their race, while women always have been the ones that had to born and raise the children. Therefore the males concentrated on getting as most as possible partners, while women persued only few partners who stay with them and help raising up their children. Emotional skills, that could lead to a long-term relationship were not needed for the males. Instead they focused in improving their physical skills in order to be a ready for fight. The opposite goes for women.…

Healthy relationships are based on love, equality, and respect while abusive ones are based on neglect, power and control. People abuse their partners either because they have experienced abuse themselves or because they grew up seeing someone being abused and perceived it a normal behavior. Usually men who are unable to make an emotional connection with the woman they choose to be intimate with are unable to allow themselves to love for fear of abandonment or betrayal. This defense mechanism could have been created in a man who has been abandoned by his mother, or due to being badly treated by a woman who he once truly admired and loved. Often abusive men appear to be the most loving people on earth but they struggle with getting rid of those…

When I say pre-relationship I am trying to say is asking a woman out on a date. For most men this is the trickiest part of the relationship, and the most feared because of that. Men also have a portion of self-doubt in themselves when it comes to persons of the opposite sex that they find attractive. They will go through a period where they try to talk themselves out of asking a woman on a date by using the self-doubt. They will try to convince themselves that they are not good enough for the woman and therefore should not try. This is a subconscious defensive tactic to avoid rejection; because you cannot be rejected if you do not try. Self-doubt is the first snag that needs to be reckoned with before pursuing any relationship.…
