Fidel Castro Assassination Research Paper

The Cuban politician and revolutionary named Fidel Castro, had miraculously avoided 634 assassination attempts. These assassinations were mostly carried out by the CIA and Cuban exiles. One of the assassination schemes involved recruiting one of Castro's former lovers as a hitwoman who was supposed to sneak a poison pill into Castro's mouth while he slept. The woman later reported that Castro found out about this attempt and gave the woman his gun to kill him, but did not do it. Several other attempts involved an exploding cigar, a poisoned chocolate milkshake, toxic fountain pens and several other schemes, but none of them worked. Until the U.S stopped its assassination schemes against Castro. Just to thinking about the idea of surviving
an assassination is a very strong emotion to handle. This article was shocking because Fidel Castro avoided 634 assassination attempts without getting hurt a single time. The author shares the same amount of common ground as me by presenting some of the schemes made by the U.S and Cuban exiles to demonstrate how shocking it was for Castro to have faced death every moment of his life. The idea of a person being able to survive many assassinations is new to me because mostly every person that I have learned about did not manage to survive. President John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln were not able to avoid that many assassination attempts. The article makes me think about how daily life is a risk because you don't know when someone or something may cut it short. I like this article because it makes me think of how much of a smart and strong person Castro was to live his life with several threats.
