a. Who did you interview? Why? What research did you do?
- My interviewee was Ji Kyun Kim who is my grandmother. She was born in 1930. Interviewed her in her hotel room. She and my family stayed in Silversmith hotel which was located in Chicago. I interviewed her because I wanted to know about the Korea’s past which is part of my background. Also, while I was experiencing some schooling in Korea I had opportunity to learn about Korea’s history and I really wanted to know the real life and the atmospheres during those periods rather than just reading a history book. I researched the brief history about Korea before I went to interview and build up the schedule according to my curiosity. I selected her as my interviewee because she was the living evidence through the Korea’s history also, it was the great opportunity to sit down with her and talk about the history for quite amount of …show more content…
My mom also lend me her cell phone to record the information. I have chosen these two methods to record the information. I chose both of these method with different reasons. For the note-taking method, I chose because I wanted to let her know that I am listening to her story and I am interested to her. I also used the recording method because there were too much information to make a notes and I wanted to maintain eye contacts with her not busy writing down her answers.
e. Describe the communication that occurred between you and your interviewee(s). What level(s) did you reach? Was/were that the expected level(s)? Why/why not? What techniques did you use to move to deeper levels?
- For me, because she was my grandmother I was able to reach level 3 communication with her. So, I had no expected levels because I was fully sure that I would reach the final level of communication.
