The director had chosen the Marae as the location for this shot because that’s the new school also because the opening of the new school is really traditional; it created more of a traditional look. Also they had showed the beautiful view outside the Marae, which was the sea and high mountains. The director also had used a wide long shot in this shot. This effect was used so we are able to see how many people were sitting with Koro/ attended the event. Also to show where this shot was taken because behind the people sitting you can see the Marae. The traditions should be alive because if it’s not then soon it will fade away and be forgotten. The teachings our ancestors have passed on for generations should be kept alive, because that’s what builds you up. The past should not be wiped away/ faded away because if it’s faded away then we have nothing from our ancestors, something they wanted to be alive. Now days in this generation it’s really easy for traditions to die. It’s already happening. Especially in the modern society everyone now has modern ways, modern traditions, everyone wants things their way not the way their ancestors used to do
