English 098, Section 151 Final Draft of Essay #4
“Wishful Thinking” Denzel Washington had once said “Dreams without goals remain dreams and fuel disappointment….Goals cannot be achieved without discipline and consistency.” Dreams are hopes and wishes that set no goals, but can be something you want instead of something you might need. Dreams with no goals just bring dissatisfaction because there are no steps or directions. In life circumstances, I believe that you have to work hard for what you earn because people who worked hard have had tough stages in life that put them through obstacles that was a struggle for them, but they remain optimistic because they knew prosper was going to come along towards the road of achievements. Positive thinking isn’t all that cracked up to be, it can distract us from time, including reality on steps and directions onto the road of achievements, but if you want to succeed you can’t give up or let barriers get in the way of your goals to achieve in life. You have to make sure that your goals are precise and manageable and that you overthink your positive outcomes along with the barriers aspects that might get in the way of achieving your goals. Many people believe the key to success is improving your health by disregarding undesirable thoughts. Gabriele Oettingen conducted studies observing a range of people. She noticed that fantasizing about happy outcomes didn’t help conquered their wishes but it had stalled them from their realizations of achieving their expectations. Positive thinking can trick our minds by recognizing we had already accomplish our ambitions, when in reality we careless on trying to chase them goals. The ambitions that you want to achieve should require a steady and reasonable approach because it makes sense to pursue a wish that you can accomplish instead of dwelling on the disadvantages. I agree with Oettingen when she said believe that you already accomplish

Realize the value in the things that we have because the grass always looks greener on the other side, but one never…

As a citizen growing up in America we all learn to recite the pledge, branding the ideals of liberty and justice for all. However, how much of this statement is true? According to Jean Mills and Carol Eichelberger in their article “A Quiet Fight to Marry”, this fundamental foundation of the United States of America is as ironic as the people to vow to protect these freedoms. This lesbian couple living in Alabama, where it is very difficult for many to accept the concept of a same-sex couple, has set out on an extensive journey to become activists whom will protect their rights and benefits that many opposite-sex couples currently receive. They effectively do this through a use of various rhetorical techniques to capture, maintain, and sympathize with the reader’s attention.…

The facts are always more than what we thought. According to " What We Really Miss about the 1950s" by Stephanie Coontz, she strongly stated that the 1950s is not quite good enough for people want to go back even though more people picked the 1950s as best decade beside other decades. People feel the 1950s is good because the finance and communications between families were best, then it was best decade for children to grow up. However, they didn't fully realize there was something else that people were not concern about which were racism and sexism against women and African Americans. Women were not happy in this role. I believe the 1950s is the best decade that people should go back to because economy was excellent, children grow up healthy and today's discrimination is worse than 1950s…

For hundreds of years, a regrettably large number of people have struggled to gain rights for oppressed minorities. Every so often, someone succeeds. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mohandas K. Gandhi were two of these successful individuals. Specifically, “Letter from Birmingham City Jail,” by Dr. King and Bhikhu Parekh’s “Gandhi: A Very Short Introduction” concisely illustrate the philosophies of these prominent civil rights leaders. Many of their principles also draw parallels to Henry David Thoreau’s “On the Duty of Civil Disobedience.” Martin Luther King Jr. and Mohandas K. Gandhi’s philosophies shared many similar ideas, and they were each influenced by the ideas of Henry David Thoreau as well, though to varying degrees. However, because they developed and applied these ideas in different countries in order to achieve different outcomes, their methods have certain nuances that make them unique, while fighting for the same basic principle: rights for the oppressed.…

Desiring of what will happen in the future by the process of creating a mental image is called visualization. Studies show that visualization helps train the brain to perform the task ahead and thus, primes the brain for success (n.a, 2014). Moreover, according to Daniel (2011), one way to become optimistic is to realize that in order to successfully accomplish the goals in life is to keep moving forward. Knocking off the tasks that help to achieve the goal is then impossible to fail. Realizing that all things are possible with determination and dedication, then becoming positive in pursuing the tasks what the individual is doing is simple.…

If you think positive that you will succeed you will end up having to reach your goal. In the Infographic: ‘Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset’ under the Frustrated section, it states, “My abilities affect everything.” This would cause you to be nervous and then give up. On the other hand, if you think that your effort and attitude affect everything you will want to put in more effort and you would want to learn more in order to reach the goal of your task. This would show that if you have a fixed mindset and say that something is impossible you will never achieve it. If you believe that you can achieve your goal then most chances are that you…

Michael Jordan once said “I’ve failed over and over and over again and that’s why I succeeded.” If you don’t even try in life you will never be successful. When you want to be successful as bad as you want to breathe then you be successful. Success is about developing personal wisdom and competence or what could be called personal mastery in the field you want to succeed in. Nothing is ever impossible to accomplish in life. You have to be determined that you can do the impossible. If you have determination you can overcome the adversities in life.…

Ladies and gentlemen, the most successful people in our world would certainly agree with me that the fulfillment of your dreams lies within you and you alone. As an example, I believe most of us still remember these two passionate brothers who chased their dreams and achieved them, the Wright Brothers. If it was not about their ludicrous dreams to invent a plane, none of us today would be able to enjoy the convenience of the aeroplane. It is their passion that has materialised their dreams.…
