The First World War (WWI) was fought from 1914 to 1918 and the Second World War
(WWII) was fought from 1939 to 1945.
The First World War was fought between the Allies and the Central Powers. The Allies were the countries who fought in the side of the Triple Entente whereas the Central Powers were those on the side of the Triple Alliance. The war spread throughout Europe and into the Far
East. With the defeat of the Central Powers, the war finally came into an end in 1918.
The First World War had not really became truly a world war to the extent of the Second
World War. The fighting and the casualties were largely concentrated in Europe and the
Middle East. By contrast, the Second World War saw fighting on every continent except the
Americas.
The Second World War was regarded as a continuation of the First World War, since its underlying causes were closely related to the peace settlements of the First World War. The
Second World War was mainly caused by the ambitions of Japan, Italy and Germany.
However, the inter-war policies of the US, Britain and France contributed to the outbreak of the Second World War as well.
B) Motive
We could always hear things about the First World War and the Second World War in our daily life. However, living in Hong Kong, which is a city without any war now, it is hard to believe that those world war had really happened before. In order to let them to be more realistic in my mind and to know more detail of the two world war, I choose this as my topic.
The First World War not only had caused a lot of damage to the world, but also lead to a great losses of most of the involved countries. However, the people still tried to carry out the
Second World War. It is hard to understand the reason of it.
