1 Give five examples of forensic samples that should be collected from each of the below to connect the scenes and suspects from:- a) The betting shop. The CS gas spray should be collected as fingerprints, skin tissue, sweat and even blood can be found on the can. The baseball bat could possibly have skin; sweat and blood on the handle therefore should be collected. The security helmet should be collected as it made contact with the baseball bat which may have left some DNA or fibres on the helmet. The glass that was broken from the security screen some samples should be taken as the suspects are likely to have stepped on it which is likely to still be on the shoes they wore which would connect the potential suspect
The security glass which was collected from the betting shop can be compared to the potential suspect’s shoes and the vacuum sweepings found in the abandoned car which would connect a potential suspect to the crime. Another comparison that can be made from the evidential material recovered at the crime scene is the victim’s blood that was collected as this can be compared against the shoes of the potential customers and possibly the overalls that they were wearing. Although the knife was not used during the crime the fingerprints collected can be compared against the potential suspect’s fingerprints, those found on the weapons as well as the fingerprints found within the abandoned van and could even possibly connect the knife to previous crimes which could have potentially occurred.
