Flat rate tax is also connected with poverty. According to Thompson (2008), the poverty level is lowered in the pre-taxed household in comparison to post-taxed household income. This under the flat rate tax it is not possible to get rid of poverty. Now if poverty exists how the economy will be improved since more people will be living under below the poverty line. This only will move the United States further towards inequality due to income disparity.
Time to time Republican politicians comes up with flat tax proposals which comprise of information on how flat rate tax would exclude the corporate income tax and the payroll tax. As Moore (2015), has stated if tax reform takes place flat rate tax would add 12 percent GDP to the United States
