Throughout history the two main parties or the Two Party System in the United States have been the Democratic Party and the Republican Party in 2012 there are many differences between the two parties from their economic ideas to their stand on military issues. Democrats and Republicans have had their differences on many topics that are still alive today in this world. Examples of this are like how Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us. Republicans believe it benefits all of us to help the wealthiest and most powerful among us. Also Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us. Topics that the two parties have fought about recently are mostly about the economy, abortion, war in Afghanistan and health care. When debating about the economy the Democratic party favor minimum wages and progressive taxation also they favor higher tax rates for higher income brackets. When it comes to the Republican party they believe taxes shouldn't be increased for anyone (including the wealthy) and that wages should be set by the free market. Furthermore, when the two parties are debating about abortion the democratic party is for abortion they don’t want it to be made illegal saying that they believe woman should be able to make the choice of whether they should keep a baby or not, on the republicans viewpoint they believe that abortion should be made illegal believing that woman should not have the choice to of whether they should be able to have an abortion.
